Spies in Your Computer

We all know about the spies who operate covertly within the war-torn areas of the world and other international strife zones. But spying is no longer just for the cloak and dagger guys and gals anymore. Spying is taking place right on your computer today and what the “spies” find gets reported to some secret place found on the Internet.
Spyware typically makes itself known when your computer all of the sudden starts running extremely sluggish yet you don’t know why. Is it impossible to sit down for a browsing session without having to weed through a ton of pop up ad windows that just show up whenever they want regardless of what you are doing or not doing on your computer? And it makes absolutely no difference even after doing a virus scan on your system. Without running the correct anti-malware program, spyware and adware will continue to go undetected in your computer.
Where do these programs known as adware and spyware come from? You will usually see them included in software applications you download from the internet such as shareware or freeware. The old saying that there are “no free lunches” echoes back to us when we realize that this free software comes with a price. You see, these creators of shareware and freeware had to get their funding from somewhere and in most cases it is the revenue from the adware. The condition is that the creators of the shareware or freeware add the mechanisms whereby the adware gets installed on a person’s computer. Once this is done, the user will experience annoying unsolicited pop up windows and advertisements even after you boot the system.
Spyware runs covertly in the background of your running computer and you usually never know it is there until you run an anti-spyware diagnostic program. Spyware, as its name implies, is designed to spy on your computer activities. The simplest implementation of spyware is intended to see where you go when browsing the internet and create a marketing profile on you that describes your preferences. The spyware reports back these preferences to its sponsors. Obviously the biggest issue with spyware is that your privacy is violated while on the internet.
Another form of spyware is also known as malware and it is more malicious in nature. It is used for committing internet crimes such as theft of sensitive data and passwords. Malware has capabilities like being able to record the keys you press to type in your credit card number, social security number, and other identity information. Statistics have indicated that 90% of computers are infected with some sort of malware. Don’t let yourself be a victim of spyware and malware crimes.
There are numerous products known as spyware cleaners that can be used to get rid of this nuisance software on your computer. While these spyware and adware cleaners get rid of the majority of spyware programs without adversely affecting your computer, there are times when a little too much could get removed. For example, if a program you downloaded from the internet contains adware or spyware then of course you could lose the program too. But there is not much that can be done about this and this is why it is better to find spyware cleaning software that works in background and catches this software before it is even installed (proactive instead of reactive spyware cleaning).
